So,

 

I can't remember the thread this originally came up in intially, but this is a big quality of life improvement for people using steam and a Rift (maybe others).

 

Goto DCS. Goto the VR page, the first tick box about autodetect headset, click that off.

 

Now you can launch DCS in flatscreen mode by clicking the icon on the desktop.

 

To launch in VR goto your occulus runtime, and start it from there (presumably steamVR or whatever for you other guys). I basically put the rift on, wait for occulus to startup, and click it there.

 

Credit is to the guy who figured it out in the other thread, I figured I'd repost it with an easily searchable title.

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
