What is the difference between using a hotkey command as opposed to using ctrl or shift or alt as a modifier?

Windows keys and hotkey commands

 

 

Right clicking on the cell also allows you to insert Windows keys or keyboard multimedia hotkeys. To add these type of commands, click a cell to add a keypress, then click the right mouse button to bring up the menu. If you select Hotkey, a new window opens with a selection of hotkey commands. Choose the command you want to assign to this button and click OK.
