Even on average skill the AI cheats are ridiculously strong. Is it possible to nerf the AI by editing some game files? It is really frustrating when your skills are not rewarded, just because the AI cheats are overpowered. They can pull extrem hard Gs and they can keep a much higher speed than their aircraft limitations. At least on average skill I would like to have an AI with somehow authentic limits.

I would like to see a custom AI settings to be set, per aircraft type and individual AI even. And then store both settings for the editor. like give AI name "Junker 22" and that AI has the given settings by default. Or then save the settings as "Custom 1 AI" for F-15C when F-15C is selected.

 

Settings for AI are like:

 

  • Max-median-minimum G forces (the max instantaneous, the average and then max negative G's pilot will do/withstand). Have a adjustable G-bar that will be consumed at different rates so after while AI needs to start to "gain more G-bar" before continuing consuming it.
  • Max-median-minimum Angle-of-Attack (excluding the landing/navigation parts, so applied on the combat only)
  • Reaction time, how quickly can AI react to things like maneuvers, when target does roll to the right, it isn't instant on the AI to reflect it but can take like 1 second to do the same.
  • Courage / Aggressivity in 0-10 scale. Where 0 means the AI will as much as possible extend for safe distance of chosen weapon and then turn to do new attack and then again extend for new attack. And after getting any hit or radar lock when flying at the six o clock in gun position, the AI will escape and return to base (goes to panic). And level 10 is full aggressive, no holding back, no sense of live or death situation. The AI is in the "chicken" driving the one that will never turn away from the car coming toward.
  • Spotting range, accuracy and angle (like 4nm, limit visual to 180 degree so from 9 clock to 3 clock, front hemisphere)
  • Operation speed to react avionics alarm systems like RWR, for chaffing etc. Like the jester virtual number pushing. To input the datalink values for targets etc.

 

And many other what some people could come up that AI should be possible be tweaked.

 

It should have fully own configuration/template panel where those are set and then selected for the AI in the flight.

I know. You get the feeling the "Standard" AI you put into your mod has Skulls all over his helmet and is known as "KILLA".

I agree entirely, seeing an F-5E perform vertical loops with almost complete energy conservation makes for a frustrating experience. It is far from unbeatable but it still doesn’t make the experience good when you have to fly against an opponent that in no way replicates how the real aircraft flies (or even how a human opponent would be).
