theinmigrant Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 First of all I'd like to say WOW. The new TGP is awesome and works perfectly in the implemented features. I would like to know what the MARK button does and how it relates to the TRIG button that gets boxed once you click on the MARK one. Also, when lasing, I was able to press the trigget just once and the laser kept ON, but after a few missions I wasnt able to replicate. Did this happen to others? Thanks!
dinoBIT Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 MARK is an IR Marker, Like a laser pointer in which you can see it when you have night vision goggles on and at night. You need to have MARK and TRIG both boxed and press the trigger to fire IR Marker. It works at the moment, so cool!
theinmigrant Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Thanks! I also would like to know if there are other ways to fire the laser. Having to keep pressing the trigger is not nice for me.
theinmigrant Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Another question: can we see the coordinates the TGP is generating when commanding a TGT? I know JSOW and JDAM can display it but apart from that, does the airplane tells you that?
Harker Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Ranging information and coordinates display are thinks that will likely come later. As for the laser firing, I read somewhere that appropriate weapons have an option to invoke automating laser fire from the pod (it'll fire upon the release of a GBU-12 or the uncaging of an AGM-65E ,for example). The Trigger option is only if the pilot wants manual control of the laser, for some reason. The above might or might not be true for our Hornet, I'm not sure.
