Obutto R3volution vs VPC MongoosT-50CM2 with Extension

Hi,

 

I'm thinking of upgrading my tools a little bit :P I would like to change my TMWH stick base to Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM2. I'm currently using Obutto R3volution pit with the TMWH base holder but since the Virpil one is rectangular vs round on the Thrustmaster I will most likely need to mod it. If this wasn't enough, I'd also like to get the stick extension :P so the whole metal holder would have to be lowered.

Has anyone here gone through a similar rebuild or has any tips on how to tackle this?
