GafferDCS Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Is there a guide or can any of you share tips on Jester working the radar. At long range employing the AIM-54 he seems pretty good at finding, sorting contacts and stuff. At short to medium range, (15-30 miles) he does not seem to be able to find much on his own. For example I get a BRA call from AWACS 15 miles, 10,000 feet below me I turn on the heading, see nothing on TID. I tell Jester to search low, middle.. nothing. I'm pretty good at working the radar on the Hornet so I understand what he should be doing back there. Would love to hear some tips on how you use Jester. AKA Gaffer
Jester2138 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 The "low/middle/high" etc. settings are completely over-done. Look at the antenna degrees it goes to when you give those commands. Instead, use search at altitude / distance. Much more useful.
Ignition Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Jester is really bad using the radar, he doesn't even try to search and track contacts. Right now you can't crank once you have fired a missile so you need to fly stright to the target. If you lost the contact jester doesn't move a finger to try to find it again. Also he's very bad at switching between RWS and TWS. Maybe with the coming TWS auto he will be more usefull.
