DoctorStrop Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 Hi all, I have upgraded my GPU from a 1070 to a 2080 super with the intention of soon upgrading from the Vive. Since I have added the 2080, I am getting problems. Seems to be to do with the motion smoothing. While I was using the 1070 everything seemed smooth, be it that I had all the settings of DCS set to minimum, I am pretty sure I did not use motion smoothing. I added the 2080, then Steam VR auto adjusted itself, and upped the motion smoothing to 150%, and now I get loads of dropped frames, each one causes DCS to switch from full screen, and to lose focus and all control of whatever aircraft I am flying. I also added an additional 16gb of RAM. I have set all my settings back to minimum in DCS and motion smoothing to 100%, and forced the custom resolution to 100%. I am using DCS latest open beta, and steam VR beta 1.8.12. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thick8 Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 Just thinking of the basic stuff first. Did you use DDU to remove your GPU drivers and do a clean driver install? Did you delete the metashaders and fxo folders to let them rebuild? DoctorStrop Posted October 12, 2019 Author Posted October 12, 2019 Hey Thick, thanks for the response. I have not done the DDU thing. I will google and find out what you mean. I have deleted the metashaders and fxo. I have done some reading and have used the "Process Lasso" tool. DoctorStrop Posted October 13, 2019 Author Posted October 13, 2019 Stupidly I did DDU and deleted the metashaders + fxo together without restarting DCS, so I cannot tell which one seems to have fixed things. My copy of DCS is now holding itself full screen, and FPS is smooth at default DCS VR settings, so now it is just a question of tweaking the settings until I get the optimum performance for my machine.
