Cockpit Console and Panel colors in F-16C

How difficult is it to change the colors of the panels in the cockpit of the Viper. Below is a picture of what looks to be a non U.S., MLU Viper that has black instead of grey panels. I'm wondering if the darker color will help the instruments stand out more. It's also very cool lol.

I'm cluelesss about making texture mods so any help is appreciated.

The cockpit textures are located in a zip file in \DCS\Mods\aircraft\F-16C\Cockpit\Textures\.

The textures are dds and tga files, you'll need something like Gimp, Paint.net. You can also use Photoshop with the Intel or NVIDIA dds plugin.

The textures named "xxxx_NORM.dds" and "xxxx_RoughMet.dds" control the normal map and the material properties of the surface. If you only want to change the color, you don't need to edit the above ones.

MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ZIP FIRST and store it somewhere safe.

That should be enough to get you started. You'll realize a lot of things once you start experimenting. Good luck! :)
