Placing aircraft on carrier deck

I have searched and found a couple vague posts on this, but old conversations and no clear cut answer.

 

Is there no way to place aircraft on the elevator platforms, on a carrier deck, in Mission Editor? Almost all multiplayer servers with carrier ops have an option to start cold and dark on an elevator. How are the mission designers doing this? I'm building a carrier op mission but, I can only start the aircraft on the cat launch.
