average_pilot Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 I was thinking how confusing the clock is, with that minute hand that looks like the second hand and that other hand that looks like the minute hand that is fixed in position. Is it really like that or it's some sort of design omission that has been left like that indefinitely? Second, up until now I didn't set the barometric altitude, but now I realized that I have no idea how to make the altitude shown in the HUD match the altimeter and I think it isn't covered in the early access guide. Cheers
Frederf Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) Should be ABU-9/A (ABU-11/A actually it seems) with stopwatch function (upper right knob pressing) see video In primary operating mode Kollsman knob sends altimeter setting to CADC which uses this number to calculate barometric altitude (with corrections for temperature, Mach, etc.) and sends that value back to the altimeter to display the calculated value. In this way the altimeter is just a dumb readout of CADC output. These should always match with difference not to exceed 75'. The HUD should display the CADC barometric output value in at least the NAV master mode. The cockpit altimeter and HUD display should match at least at this time. In backup operating mode the altimeter works in the traditional manner and isn't connected to CADC. The operating mode of the altimeter can be changed by the lever in the lower right corner and known by the "PNEU" flag which indicates the backup mode of operation. Last I checked these flags weren't working even though the changeover was. The allowable difference between primary and secondary operation is 270'. Edited January 1, 2024 by Frederf
