Hi!

I was always wondering is this feature was added just for gameplay reasons or do mig29 and su27/33 really are capable of HUD target designation (small piper) using the Aeronauticall Bombing Mode (added in v1.0.2).

I mean, if these planes do not have AG radar, how can it be possible for pilots to mark the target using the HUD and then apply bombs on it?

Pure computing or some kinda of a laser targeting? :)

Thx in advance,

It probably has a limited AG mode for rangefinding and whatnot. Quite an easy feat to accomplish with any useful radar I believe. The rest is taken care of using INS and computer power.

The A/G mode is a real feature of the Su-27/MiG-29.

It is employed in OPT mode, with an AG munition selected (dumb bombs, rockets and submunition dispensers, plus incendiary bombs), it has a balistic computer with every weapon's characteristics, which uses the laser rangefinder to calculate the distance to the target point, and combining that with the data from the air data computer, it calculates the shooting solution for the selected munition type.
