Ok so I know how to drop them. With the harrier , hog etc but for some reason code is at 1688 on both the bomb and on tpod , i lock the target, bomb is n/t, i get the cue and once the sound comes on I release it. Bomb is away and regardless if laser is on auto or i manually activate it it will mot track.

What am I doing wrong here? It drives mad lol

I had same issue normally, what ended up working for me is don’t change the auto setting or the laser designator. Let it do everything automatic. Once I let it do everything automatic I got good tracks. Now the only thing that confuses me are the multiple launch modes

not saying this is why you're not hitting your targets but, quoting the manual: "Let’s check on HUD after WMD-7 locked a target and a bomb is selected in auto mode. A 2

seconds beep will appear at 4 seconds before enter launch envelop. You can release weapon

when launch cue appears and approaching FPM."

basically you're supposed to release them once the square launch cue overlaps with the fpm marker

By "will not track" do you mean falls short every time?

As witness_me said, the audio cue is not the bomb drop cue, I did this as well and it drops too early. It does track, but it doesn't have the energy to reach the target.

It's not like other jets Auto/CCRP bomb mode where you hold weapon release and the computer drops the bomb and the optimum time, you need to time it manually. The sound is just to wake you up and remind you that you need to drop a bomb in another 4 seconds. Look at the square and drop as it's passing the vertical velocity number, a little late better than a little early as the bomb will just guide downwards.

Noted thanks and yes it was dropping short but also and although initially it turns and tracks it didn’t look like it maintained it for more than 2 seconds and the fell short.

When i tested last night i dropped after the tone and didn’t touch anything on the panel. eg. i didn’t activate the laser etc I left everything as it was amd it worked fine

Good job. Yup, generally speaking the jet does a lot of things for you and you're more likely to mess something up by trying to do it manually than just letting it do its thing. The TGP implementation in the JF-17 is sublime and the laser guided bombs and rockets are easy to use and reliable.

It's also worth noting that these are still GBU-12s we're talking about, with their peculiarities in guidance logic that have a tendency to make the bomb bleed a lot of energy if it gets too much guidance. When buddy-lasing, in particular, it really helps to be a bit late in the release and thereby giving the bomb a bit more margin before it falls short — actually picking up the tracking spot is often less of a problem unless it's really late.
