Hi,

I would like to ask about target diamond behavior during approaching the target from longer distance with PD-STT with gun selected. If I have missile selected the diamond is placed on the target. As soon as I select gun the diamond go away from target somewhere up on HUD. When RIO switch to P-STT as target distance decrease the diamond go back to target even with gun selected. Is this normal behavior? I can't find anything about this in pdf manual.

This behaviour is normal, and is to be expected.

The diamond is used in the gun lead symbology, when there is no lock, therefore it cannot be used to show the current scan pattern of ACM modes.

When you get a lock, the diamond will indicate hostile aircraft's position, like with missiles, and the cross pipper is your gun reticle.

I personally found it to not be an issue, just as long as i keep in mind what ACM scan pattern i m in, and even if you forget, just go plm for one sec and select a new ACM mode for your radar.

There is radar lock. It is in PD STT mode. If I switch to missile, diamond appears on the target. if I switch to gun, diamond go away. when I switch back to missile, diamond go back to target.

When RIO switch to P-STT mode everything is ok. diamond is on the target with gun selected.

That sounds like a bug to me. As far as I know the only thing that should change when switching to gun with a radar lock is seeing the pipper and I don't see why PD vs P-STT would make a difference.
