tmdgm Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 For those who are interested, seems there are new episodes for the dogfights series on history channel. A new episode every night this week. Unfortunately, the time stinks at 11 pm EST. Who knows, the way history channel has ditched this series, anything can change, but as of right now, a new episode is scheduled for Monday night with one every night. http://www.history.com/minisite.do?content_type=Minisite_Episodes&content_type_id=52079&display_order=2&mini_id=51833 If you're not interested in the series, please keep your comments to yourself so this doesn't turn into a political debate.
cool_t Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 hi Yes, I watched some of them this week and compared and contrasted engagments. Man just imagin the rush, fear, and excitement. The one show that realy put me in a loop was the 'Gulf War" show. The F-15cs had issues with IFF, and some of the guys in my mind hesitated way to long befor shooting there missiles. It also was striking how the F-15s di not get locked up much or not at all, strange. In my opinion the F-15 pilots let the migs get in way to close, or the AWAX guys were having a smoke break and could not tell the F-15 guys that they were bandits. That Mig-25 got way to close im surprised that the "Battle Hardend" Iraqi fighter pilots did not get a kill that day, the F-15 pilots never saw combat befor. :joystick:
Guest Crazy_Eyes Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Dick Shafferet or I think that's his name, anyway this pilot endured 6:1 enemy and it's regarded as one of the best dogfights ever, absoultley awesome pilot, there are two parts to this movie. Dick I salute you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tFX78bLM-Y
cool_t Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 :) Actualy, in the Vietnam air war the Crusader had the best Kill ratio in Air to Air engagements. Hot and intence, just imagin how frustrated some pilots got after there missiles did not work or there guns jammed. :pilotfly:
tmdgm Posted December 9, 2007 Author Posted December 9, 2007 What amazed me is the desert storm episode. Countless times I've cursed the aim 9 in lomac and cursed the designers on how useless it is. But they fired 3 or 4 aim 9's in that episode and they all went right for the countermeasures. I don't think there was a single aim 9 hit in the episode (although I'm sure there were in other contacts during the war). I felt like I was playing lomac again. Maybe the aim9 performance isn't as far off as I thought.
cool_t Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Very strange and also why didnt the MIG lock the F-15 up on that head to head Knife fight. Going up against a so called "Battle Hardend" Iraqi pilots was a farse at best. I just dont get it why the MIgs didnt lock them up? :pilotfly:
