I know I'm late to the party on this but I've only just now discovered there exists such a thing as a 'powerline detector' - a device installed in helicopters providing an audible and/or visual indication to warn of proximity to powerlines.

I discovered it in a youtube video about the UH-1(H): "zunO6iUVUT0" [16:07]

(And this video gives a demonstration of the device: "CxsR_aA5XN8")

What a great 'little' addition that would make, though I know right away the complexity of the technical implemenation would not be trivial of course.

I don't know how the powerlines are implemented within the terrain technology of DCS but this would likely require an additional 'layer' of information in which to indicate electro-magnetic distubance zones to be simulated and 'detectable' at a stregth relative to the distance of the obsever from the epicentre of the zone.

<Insert scientific-sounding ramblings here pretending I know anything at all about physics and electricity>

Perhaps there is a 'cheap-and-cheerful' way of accomplishing some kind of close approximation (re-use of the existing radio signal attenuation mechanisms/algorithms).

Well, just a thought.
