F10 Map: When it USED to work, it gave the wrong numbers

I've been following the threads about F10 map not showing any numbers, just repeating the labels. This started when V_2.5.6 came in. I was about to start a thread just before this happened ...

When the F10 map did give numbers for speed and altitude and heading (i.e. in V-2.5.5), the speed was wrong. At least, the speed shown on my instrument panel was not the same as on the F10 map info panel. The discrepancy was as much as 40 mph or more (I didn't write down any details at the time). The sort of situation was when was trying to catch an FW190, I'd check his speed in the F10 map, then look at my instruments. According to those numbers I should be gaining on him rapidly, but the on-screen labels made it clear that he was getting further away! After I saw that, I selected my own plane on the map and read off my speed. This was quite different from that shown on my cockpit instrument panel.

(afterthought: could it be that one is showing ground speed and the other airspeed?)

I hope that when the major bug is looked into, this error can be cured as well.
