Countermeasure system automatic and semi-auto modes

Hello there.

Been picking up the F18 after a very long break and everything works fine... Except the countermeasures.

 

First, can someone pinpoint me to the file to modify to save my programm? I tried, and it did save, but its not loading in game and its annoying to input it everytime.

 

Also.

 

I have tried to set the CMS in AUTO. It does absolutely nothing. At all. Not a chaff, not a flare. Nothing ever, even when I have a radar missile on my tail.

 

In SA, I have another problem. If I press the Chaff dispense... It just starts dispensing chaffs and flares like a madman.

I mean, I am getting locked by a FOX1/3. Shouldn't it just dispense chaffs? And dispense flares when I'm not being locked by anything but I press the dispense button?

 

I really need some help with that. I've been looking at the manual and I don't see what's I'm doing wrong.

First of all, the file is located at \Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\TEWS\device and named CMDS_ALE47.lua . You should save a copy of your modified file, because DCS will patch it to the default one every time you run an update or repair. You'll have to copy-paste your modified one after each update or repair. Or use a mod manager, such as OVGME.

 

Secondly, SEMI and AUTO aren't implemented yet, so stick to MAN. And even later, MAN is usually a better choice, since SEMI and AUTO usually eat up your countermeasures. In MAN, the system doesn't know the type of threat, so you'll have to select the appropriate CMS program yourself. CMS Fwd always runs MAN program 5 and CMS Aft runs the selected MAN program. The big Dispenser button on the left wall just dumps a bunch of cms, I think 20 chaff+20 flares. Keep that for your "oh sh!t" moments.

 

I personally run Chaff programs on MAN 1 and MAN 2 and a Flare burst program on MAN 5 (always accessible).
