Just a few general questions. When it comes to putting friendly units on the map and enabling comms with them what do I need to do? Do I need to just put line an AWACS down and give it a frequency? Do I need to give a frequency and create waypoints? Do I need to create waypoints and tell it to perform command set frequency? Sometimes I’ll put units down and I can contact them no problem. I tried putting down an awacs a kc130 a 135 and a Viking tanker so I could practice air refueling. I could only contact one of the aircraft even though I assigned frequencies to all of them and gave them tasks. Any help would be appreciated! Also, I know how to work the radios and do that stuff but I would hit the comms menu and most of the air frames weren’t even listed as as aircraft I could talk with. The important part is both your client, mission and server settings enforcement of "Realistic comms". The mission will override player settings if you set it to. This causes confusion.

 

 

Thereafter, if you want service from AWACS/tankers and they are the right unit type, set the frequency you want them on and if realistic comms are set, you need that, elsewise you wont. When you create an AWACS or tanker it will already have the inbuilt AI Task for it to perform that function.

 

More important is that you want to give awacs and tankers a Perform Orbit task at a certain waypoint. If you want a racetrack, you set it to start the racetrack before the next waypoint and it will loop between the two.

[EDIT] the awacs and tanker menu items are built dynamically depending on if there are any available awacs or tankers. They wont show for example, if it's not taken off yet.

Do I have to set the comms type for each asset? I’ll set the frequencies for them all but I don’t know where to check about easy comms.
