markturner1960 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Hi all, while I wait excitedly, I was reading the manual and wondered what the general consensus was on control mapping for the various radio commands and responses....I have always found it tricky using these, not least as on my large screen at high res, the text is very small and difficult to see.......with the carrier, looks like there will be even more to manage. How do you / will you manage this best? Thanks System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
Larkis Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 For radio i use the movemaster. https://www.movemaster.biz/ Works perfectly in special in VR. Using Fingers for F1-F10 and push up and down to select or deselect radios.
JayRoo Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 or Voice Attack. if you are unfamiliar, it turns voice commands (triggers) to fire off keyboard commands. So for example you could have it recognize your voice to say: "see you at 10" and program Voiceattack to press comm 1, F1, F3 for example (obviously those commands are probably not the same as the actual game radio commands) I programmed my joystick to have a desigated PTT for Voice attack so that when I press it, it starts listening rather than having VA listen all the time so I don't trigger an inadvertent command when talking to someone else. It will be a matter of going through the pattern from 50nm out and looking at the F-key options and pausing and writing them down to program the desired commands in Voice Attack. P.S. I already use VA for things that I would normally be able to reach in the real world with my left hand while keeping right hand on the stick. Things such as gear, UFC buttons, emergency jettison, etc. So to illustrate, I can take off, hold down my VA PTT and say "gear up" and the program tells the computer to press "G" and the gear cycles in game. Same with other misc command like to bring up the rearm and refuel menu or open/close the canopy. Very helpful in VR so I dont have to peak through the little gap by my nose to look at the keyboard. Hope this helps.

sthompson Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Or VAICOM Pro, which is a paid plugin for Voice Attack that integrates it with DCS so you don't need to use the menus anymore at all. It already has checkboxes to enable functionality with the Super Carrier comms. They don't do anything yet, but the developer has been unusually silent, making me wonder if he's frantically working with ED for a simultaneous release. He was on top of Jester compatibility almost from day one when the F-14 came out. or Voice Attack. if you are unfamiliar, it turns voice commands (triggers) to fire off keyboard commands. bradleyjs Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 As per sthomson: I agree and personally highly recommend the VoiceAttack / VAICOM Pro solution. I’ve used the products for several years now and it works great especially with a HOTAS setup. Additionally, both products are maintained and updated on a regular basis.
