D0rmicum Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Anyone in need of a F-14 Tomcat based Throttle an willing to pay 800 USD excl. shipping? It seems Throttletek can help: Throttletek GF-14 Just came across this one when I googled F-14 throttle and couldn‘t find any topic to this one here and though it might be interesting. For me 800 bucks just for a throttle is a little bit out of my range - at least for now :megalol: Has anyone experience with Throttletek? Modules and maps: all of them  Specs: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I, Intel i7-8086K@4.9GHz, 32GB Corsair Vengance RAM, Nvidia RTX 2080 FE, 2x1 TB Samsung EVO 970 M.2, WIN10 64bit, HP Reverb
streakeagle Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 There was a thread about their F/A-18 throttle that was briefly available. It was fairly nice hardware, but had several issues, so they discontinued the F/A-18 throttle. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
D0rmicum Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 Thank you for the info streakeagle! Doesn't sound that good! Found the old trhread and I think it's better to wait until some reviews pop up. streakeagle Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I don't think the Hornet throttle was that bad. But the production numbers were too low to properly debug them. When you offer something at that high of a price, it needs to be close to perfect out of the box and have support to finish the job right as quickly as possible if it does need some changes. I was seriously considering the Throttletek Hornet throttle. But they discontinued it before I had the money available to blow on it. I have been eyeing the Winwing Hornet HOTAS, but I just recently bought real F-4 throttle levers and mounted them on an F-101 throttle quadrant (both aircraft from McDonnell with nearly identical engineering function and compatibility). So, I am more interested in adapting this real throttle than buying yet another HOTAS as I already have two complete Warthog HOTAS and two VKB Gunfighter stick bases. I recently got the VKB F-14 grip, so this F-14 throttle is really appealing. If I saw really good reviews, I would be tempted to pull the trigger and buy it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

With all the DIY joystick's and Arduino projects wonder what kind of market it would be if they built the hardware and mechanics and you figured out the electronics. Small arduino board with some shift registers and pots or hall sensors bam have a quality throttle with eletronics easily replaced if something got borked! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
lunaticfringe Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I think it's cute how they use the markings of the F-14D grip on an A/B throttle without the second and third four way switches. Their attention to detail is *chef's kiss*, right along with their $800 price tag.
streakeagle Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 It was little "details" that killed their Hornet throttle. I had not noticed that this one doesn't even match the switches of the original F-14A. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
