LeonRedbone Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Hello, I have a dedicated server set up on a separate machine. Correct ports are open and firewall was disabled for testing. I cannot get a client to connect from outside the network and just get the address unavailable message. The server DOES show up under my ED profile server manager and I can connect and manage it. Just can't get any clients to see it in server list or connect directly via ip. Even tried changing port numbers etc. No ISP blocking of ports(as mentioned it shows all ports needed to be open with tools like canyouseeme.org) Not sure what's up. Any ideas?
Phoenix FR Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 I have a dedicated server too, i can connect to it, but my buddies has the same problem as LeonRedbone. He can't see the server, and when he is using the IP, he has a message that there is no server which is not right because i'm in.
MadDog-IC Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) I would be checking if either of you or your clients have IPV6 enabled or a dual stack system with IPV6 and IPV4 together, with IPV6 as your default protocol, this may cause issues, because client maybe trying to use the IPV6 protocol and IP addresses instead of the IPV4 IP addresses. I had nothing but issues with a slightly misconfigured setup in my router when I went from a IPV4 protocol only, that always worked fine, to a Dual stack system of IPV6 and IPV4 with it defaulting to IPV6 by default. I changed a few other things I didn't understand with IPV6 at the time and made it default to IPV4 and it worked fine again. I believe ED have said that servers will not work with IPV6 address and / or will not at least show up in the server lists. Regards, Ian. LeonRedbone Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the replies. This is driving me insane. I have everything set up and still no luck. Port shows open, I can ping the host externally. Tried with firewall disabled in case rules were wrong...nothing. Can't connect from outside. Just says "Address Unavailable". If I try a different port..."Server Offline" Edit: IPv6 is disabled in router. Static IP for host machine. Edited April 21, 2020 by LeonRedbone added
LeonRedbone Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 Ok WTF....lol I figured I'd try something different...enabled IPv6 on everything....Server now shows in the list and I can connect....shows a strange address that looks like IPv6 but isn't mine. I'm confused. I can't connect using the correct IPv4...but If I copy and paste that strange string of numbers....it works.

We tried but it didn't work. :( I tested with 2 others friends, and it's teh same, they didn't see the server, and have also the message that there is no server. i check again the rule of the firewall and everything seems ok. I am the only one who see the server.
