HoneyViper Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Wondering if anyone here has successfully used Simple Radio Standalone with the F-5 on a multiplayer server? I've just installed SRS since I want to get into multiplayer. I just had a look at the Hoggit Training Server which people seem to recommend, and see there are two main frequencies we need to transmit and receive on - one for ATC and one for 'common' (guessing this is just people talking random). However, I'm still not confident I understand the F-5's radio setup and how this works in relation to SRS. Is it possible to be listening to two (or more) frequencies at once in the F-5? The SRS setup YouTube tutorial I watched had us set up two push-to-talk radio buttons which I've mapped to two different buttons on my throttle. When going into the training server, I expected to be able to hold down one button and speak to ATC, and hold down the other button and speak to other pilots but I couldn't work out where to program the second frequency on the radio panel. How do we manage it if we can't listen to two frequencies at once? Do we punch in the ATC freq on takeoff, then change the freq to the common one during flight, then back to ATC for landing? Thanks
Tailhook Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 The F-5 only has one radio but SRS gives you two extra virtual radios. You can adjust the virtual radios via the toggle radio overlay and listen/talk to all 3 with hotkeys. With the thumb switch on warthog throttle I set forward to Comm1, back Comm2, down Comm3, and up toggles my radio overlay on/off. Make sure under SRS settings you have Radio Switch works as PTT turned on. The overlay menu is rather simple. You can either manually enter the frequency by punching the up/down buttons or by setting up the text file like the FC3 aircraft use and select frequency from the Ch. tab. Thanks Tailhook, I understand it now. Had a test run in the Hoggit Training Server and it seemed to work.
Tailhook Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Keep the in-game SRS window open to know what frequency you are talking on. You can switch modes with Lshift+Lcntrl+Esc. Intel i9-13900K : ASUS TUF RTX 4080 : 32GB G.Skill RipjawsV 4000 : TM HOTAS Warthog : HP Reverb G2
