HunterICX Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Hi, Trying the 701s they won't lock within 10nm on Auto unless I press the 'lock target' key which isn't how AUTO should work if I'm not mistaken. They should lock themselves as soon they we are in 10nm range after having them slaved onto a target.
L0op8ack Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 slaved does not mean no drift/error, move TDC a bit around the target, let the seeker have a chance to lock a target.
HunterICX Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) I tried but still can't get a lock using AUTO. made a recording of my attempt Edited April 22, 2020 by HunterICX
L0op8ack Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 (edited) In slave mode, sensor will only follow az/el commanded (where to look), until pilot manual command input, it's not point stablized. After you move TDC in slave, since it's not point stablized, you need press S2_Press to ground stable the sensor, then move TDC over target to auto lock target, or S2_Press when target is centered in the image(if luckly enough). Basic rule behind the logic: target designation has to be up to the pilot. Avionics make it easier, but should not be automatic. Edited April 23, 2020 by L0op8ack
foxwxl Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 The cross center should be moved onto the target(best to move the cross above the target serval times), auto lock will happen after getting close and the target is getting obvious from the background. If you are trying to lock a target at 10nm, I suggest manual lock, auto lock usually take place no longer than 6-7nm. Deka Ironwork Tester Team
