MonkeyIsland Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Hello, I'm new to this. Is Flaming Cliffs a completey new game. I noticed on the webpage it said it was. But it is also refferred to as 1.1. Which makes me think it's kind of an add-on/patch for Lock On:MAC. Question is, do I have to buy Modern Air Combat and then add Flaming Cliffs? or can I just start with Flaming Cliffs? Also, does anyone know if ED accepts Paypal? I assume that I will have to download this from Canada as the website only talks of a publishing company for within Russia. I don't really want to give my credit card details. Thanks.
Cromewell Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I don't know about payment, but I'm pretty confident saying that you need Lock On before you can play Flaming Cliffs
britgliderpilot Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Re: Simple question. ED hasn't yet released details of the download or payment methods . . . . I'm waiting with interest to see what happens. If you can buy the full boxed set (i.e. the only available in Russia version), then you DON'T need Lomac installed. The download has, to the best of my knowledge, only been suggested as an upgrade to people who already own Lomac. It'll be a hell of a sight easier to go down to a game store and find Lomac cheap, than try and download an additional 700Mb from the net . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
MonkeyIsland Posted December 4, 2004 Author Posted December 4, 2004 Interesting. Maybe one of the Devs's can clarrify for us. Also I have another question. If 1.1 is a new game, as stated in the Flaming Cliffs website, will ED continue to release patches and fixes for LoMAC? I mean small patches to download that will fix bugs with LoMAC after 1.02. If it will not be possible to get a copy of Flaming Cliffs in Canada, then at least I will buy LoMAC if I know it will be supported with patches and fixes into the future, without me having to download the 700MB Flaming Cliffs game.

The official line is that ED will continue to support Lomac. Whether they will release bug-fixes that happened as a side-effect of Flaming Cliffs has apparently not yet been decided. You will certainly not get big new features without paying for them ;) What I suggest you do is to go buy Lomac now - and then go find a friend with broadband and a CD-burner to get Flaming Cliffs from. The extra goodies look like they're going to be well worth it . . . . Just to clarify, though . . . Flaming Cliffs is not a new game, it is an add-on pack. A very extensive add-on pack . . . . but an add-on pack nonetheless. The version that you can buy in Russia will, however, install the game WITH Flaming Cliffs already integrated into it . . . . so from that point of view, it could be considered a new game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
