When I spawn in from the air, my emergency wing sweep lever is never locked in the full forward position. I have to raise the cover, lift it up, move it forward, lock it down, reset master switch and put them in auto. Was wondering if this is normal? Any way around this? When this happens sometimes my wings wont sweep and get ripped off by the first turn I take...

If I hot start at a ramp, its where it should be. I usually cold start for the first spawn but if I get shot down, I like to have an air re spawn close by.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

It depends on your airspeed. Wing sweep will be in auto when you start which means they will adjust to whatever speed you're at. The faster you are the further back they will be swept. No need to touch the cover in normal flight. The lever will move on it's own. It will only be fully forward when wings are at 20 degrees

How come when you do the cold start tutorial they tell you to move it forward and lock it down? Then its in auto and the handle does not move, as its locked forward. The wings still sweep with the handle locked forward.

I notice when the handle is not locked forward the handle moves with the wings which I believe is not normal....

It isn't locked forward. It's locked into the gear that moves it(I forget it's name) After you move it forward, push it down and close the cover make sure you push the reset button before putting it in auto and it will move depending on speed.

I have to go back and try the tutorial bc Im doing something wrong on start up then. When I cold start the lever does not move in flight but my wings sweep. Thanks for the help

***Edit

Ok I followed Grim Reapers quick start, and that seems to be the problem here. If I start a mission in the air, or hot start at runway the lever DOES move with the wings. If I follow his quick start the lever gets locked in the forward position. The wings still sweep back and forth but the lever does not move. Interesting...

Anyway you can watch and follow his quick start and see what happens for you, or anything you spot that's not correct??

The modeling isn’t exactly right on the wing sweep handle. The wings should be set in Auto before moving the wings out of oversweep which will drive the captains bars, and the spider detent, to 20 degrees. To come out of oversweep into wings forward, the handle is lifted, moved to 20, and then dropped into the spider detent and then a Master Reset. From this point on, the handle will move with the wings.

The way it’s modeled now, if you follow that procedure, the handle doesn’t engage the spider detent. So the way to do it in DCS is to lift the handle, move it to 68, drop it down, hit Master Reset and then put the wings in Auto.

It’s a small discrepancy and probably not worth the effort to fix right now. I’m sure the A is high on the priority list.
