[CANNOT REPRODUCE, TRACK PLEASE] Mach Number on HUD not correct

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello

So, when I fly wit afterburner on, sometimes the Mach Number gets stuck on 0.99 or 1.0 Mach, on the HUD. It doesn't show any faster speed than Mach 1.0. Anybody else observed this?

Thanks

6 AIM-120C, 2 AIM-9x, 3 Fuel Tanks.

That’s a pretty draggy loadout, if you are low level then M1 would be pretty hard to attain.

As stated already, what was your altitude? Were you full of fuel? Was it a warm day setting?

There are loads of variables.

Altitude was about 30'000 feet. Fuel was nearly full. It happened multiple times. But the variables were always similar.

Thanks

Try dropping the ambient temperature, also a cleaner airframe will help, so drop the bags when empty. The heavier the airframe, the more thrust will be needed to attain a certain speed than would be needed were you lighter.

These suggestions will help, but there are very few aircraft that can routinely attain M1 when full of fuel, and with a heavy and draggy warload.
