shopping for the RAAF

I don't want a political debate but just wanted to know some other thoughts in regards to what the RAAF should equip its self with for the future,

 

i say just buy heaps of s300's and line the coast who needs a fighter jet if not even a bird could fly around up there lol, as u can see this is why i don't give up my day job ;)

AFAIK, it would be physically impossible to build a reliable air defense system based only on SAMs. But I don't think Australia is only looking for air defense, are they? They want a plane that can make up for the F-111 I think. There's not really a plane out there that can do that though.
