VC Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 The binding itself does what it says, I hear my pilot make the call, but in MP last week I never got an answer. The radio is tuned correctly, if I hit "/" and go through the menu I get an answer fine. I tried using both VHF and UHF first then clicking the "bogey dope" binding to try to force it onto the right radio, but no luck. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here? VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! Frederf Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 "/" suggests you are using easy comms. The direct Bogey Dope call always uses the auxiliary "red" radio. I'm guessing that ED's easy comms attempts to tune the #1 radio (V/UHF "green") if possible for these calls but the call is made on "red." Confirm the lower frequency on the dual frequency display matches the AWACS. You will see the green transmit light come on at the bottom of the frequency display during the call indicating it is using that radio.
VC Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Thank you, that makes sense now. I am not using "easy comms", I have the buttons for the two radios bound to my HOTAS, but even so pressing \ will open the radio menu on whichever radio was used last. But you are probably right, even without easy comms the shortcut keybind tries to call on the wrong radio. In any case I recently started using VoiceAttack and downloaded some profiles for the radio menu, so this is not an issue for me anymore. I just push the button for the radio tuned to AWACS frequency and voice command the rest :) VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting!
