Bunny Clark Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I posted about this in Mission Editor Discussion a while ago, posting again here with more detail to try and get more traction for this issue. I'm working on a Hornet campaign with a mission that involves attacking infantry and vehicles on two oil rigs. It was working acceptably before the 2.5.6 stable update, but now it's not. All infantry static units placed on the oil rig now spawn on the sea floor, where obviously they cannot be killed to complete the mission. Amphibious vehicles placed on the oil rig spawn floating on a sea surface. The only thing that seems to have been unaffected is helicopters, which still spawn on the oil rig. This bug has made this mission completely unplayable. Further, it would be really nice to be able to spawn infantry as units, or non-amphibious ground units, on solid objects at sea like oil rigs. The MANPADS sporting infantry in my mission are actually not a threat to anyone, since they're static objects, because I am prevented from placing actual infantry units on water. I was able to add some danger by placing amphibious air defense units on the rigs, having a tracked SAM on an oil rig seemed a bit weird, but hey, it's Iran so it seems realistic in a way. Of course now that doesn't work either. I had hoped to be releasing the first 8 missions for the campaign soon, but now I either need to wait for ED to fix this issue or release it missing a mission in the middle. Bunny Clark Posted July 27, 2020 Author Posted July 27, 2020 Looks like this has been fixed, or at least returned to it's previous state, with the last update! Amphibious vehicles placed on an oil rig still "sink" when destroyed, by slowly translating down through the oil rig until they hit the sea floor. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign.
