Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Hi, Apologies if this has been reported before: a search I did turned up nothing. When starting the IA in-flight refuelling NTTR mission, the Harriers escorting the KC-130 immediately start doing violent manoeuvres, colliding with the player. The only way I have seen to avoid this, is to immediately after hitting the Fly-button, going to idle power and to apply the airbrakes. I think I also noticed the source of this problem: in the mission editor, the KC-130's speed got lowered over these past few months (I haven't done this particular IA mission in a while) to 220 KIAS (300 knots GS). The player and the other F-14 are also set at 300 knots, but the Harriers are set to 270 knots. This causes them to have to do an instant catch-up, resulting in the collision. When I set the Harriers to 300 knots GS and re-save the mission, the Harriers still do some jerking manoeuvres, but no longer collide with the player's aircraft. According to GlobalSecurity.org, the high-speed drogue of a KC-130 is limited to 200-250 KIAS, so I think the speed of the tanker and escorting aircraft can safely be increased a bit (and/or the altitude lowered), making the refuelling process a bit easier as well ;-) Thanks!
