Vanguard Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) I see a lot of complaints on the SLAM, myself included. Yes it's, old and shouldn't be compared to a JSOW, that would be a comparison for the SLAM-ER, and yes the video isn't optimal, perhaps realistic, perhaps not, but... my biggest complaint for the SLAM is it's terminal profile. For me, the biggest issue is that I feel its too lazy in the terminal phase, slowly panning downwards, and by the time its pointing down enough to even see the target in the DDI, I have just enough time to "nudge" it, one way or the other. Seems to me it should have a more aggressive downwards profile to provide more time to see the impact point and make adjustments. Picture says 1000 words, but my MS Paint skills are limited, see attached. Anyone know where we could get some info on what the terminal profile should look like? Anyone find low/med/high flight setting makes a difference? I tried high thinking it would buy more time, but it feels like it just takes even longer to point downwards. Attached photo depicts to me what it currents acts like on the left, and how I feel it should be on the right (red missile, green where it's looking, black, the arc of the terminal profile).
