skyshadow_raven Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 In 1.1, will G-overload and speed overload ultimately break the craft piece by piece? "I knew a guy who gave up once....he died."
britgliderpilot Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Re: G and Speed overload effects in 1.1 In 1.1, will G-overload and speed overload ultimately break the craft piece by piece? If it did, it would only be on two aircraft - the Su25 and Su25T. Just bear that in mind. I haven't heard about progressive damage effects yet . . . . and G-overload is unlikely to reach the point where the aircraft will actually be destroyed. In general, the limiters will only allow to the point where it'll nothing worse than shorten the life of the aircraft. I'm interested in the speed question, though - v1.1 apparently has real-time calculations for the Mach buffet, and cleverly modelled engines. As such, overspeed effects on the engines might be possible . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
BIOLOG Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Destroying jet byr over G is quite hard. Pilot will die first IMHO. Russian 9-G rated jets are built to withstand 18-G's... There is always a 100% "extra" strength in Russian aircraft. There is chance of failuire at over 9-G, and fairly obviously higher over-G, higher chance. However I think that chance is very very low. Btw, in real life, highest G experienced in a MiG-29 were 15G's. Cheers The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.
Trident Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Pilot injury not withstanding I would imagine that hung weapons would be the most likely consequence of exceeding g-limits. This could be modelled relatively easily aswell.
BIOLOG Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 true... Although that would largely depend on weight of weapon and it's launching mechanism. The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.
