Syria brownish lens filter in players viewport?

My very first impression of this map was the brownish ocre'ish tinted viewport that happens every few miles. It's as if the player viewer was placing a brown tinted sunglass and removing in a constant frequency. Very disturbing. Is that tinted filter really necessary?
