The_Nephilim Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) Hey Everybody, EDIT Title should read "Wrong" LOL!! I like most people who use VR seem to have major performance issues with DCS.. Well I had found a very strange thing with SteamVR. What it is it seems SteamVR reportes the wrong resolution and in return you end up running way higher a resolution then you think you are.. Now I may be late on this but thought I would share what I found. When running at 100% Render Resolution in Steam VR it was not running at my natyive resolution vor my Odyssey Plus. Then in return when I ran the DCS.exe to adjust ther resolution it was many times higher, yes I know this is by design but let me finish.. I then set the Render Resolution to Auto and then went into the Video setting in PEr application settings the native res there was only at 68%.. So the Render res must have been incorrectly reported by SteamVR or something. so basically when running like this with the Render resolution set at Auto and my Resolution reported in Steam VR is more to my Native resolution and I was instanly getting better frames ingame.. Now I have read about setting the resolution at native resolution maybe this was what they are talking about but it was really wierd I thought as I assumed setting the render resolution at 100% was the correct setting and obviously was not.. so basically I was way higher in res then I proablly should have been which added to the poor frames.. Now it was not some miracle cure but I noticed in some single player missions my Frames where alot better then before.. Like for instance in the Dock Strike for the F16 in PG I was struggling to get 50-55, now it averages around 60-65 and sometimes up too 75.. So not sure if this will help in your case as YMMV but for me it was a definate improvement.. So if you get really crappy frames maybe set the Render resolution to auto and try to stay close too your native res.. but since the native resw is reported properly with the Render resolution on auto then when running the Per application resoltion gets swet lower to keep the native rez.. as setting it too 100 % it was way higher then the native rez was reported.. I hope I explained my self correctly and maybe I was just a big dummy about what my res should be. but it does appear Steam VR reported my native resolution under Render resolution and auto made it return to my native resolution. And for some strange reason even tho the res appears to be lower it seems almost as good looking as it did before but with better frames.. maybe because it runs smoother now then before?
