[VFA-106] Glacier Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 When configuring your laser-guided weapons, you can specify mode: DIR, or AUTO. I understand that AUTO = CCRP. Does that mean that DIR = CCIP?
[VFA-106] Glacier Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 Also, regarding the FUZE setting, you can choose DIRECT or DELAY. How much of a delay is applied with the DELAYED setting? That's to allow it to penetrate a target before detonating, correct?
[VFA-106] Glacier Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 Last question: there's also an OAP setting: ON or OFF. If you set it to ON, where does that offset data come from? I know there's an OAP button on the UFCP, but I don't understand how the two work together. I'm asking all of these questions, by the way, because I'm putting together a quick-reference process document, which I will, of course, share with you all. The more accurate and complete I can make it, the happier you all will be. :)
SuumCuique Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 OAP is an offset from a target point, for example a waypoint. The offset can be input in the UFC after pressing the OAP button. The offset defined as a direction and distance from the known position, I think the distance is in feet. DIR is a backup mode. It is a manual bomb mode, you can input the depression of the reticle in an MFD menu, I think it is under data. It might be useful if CCIP and AUTO is failing, yet the jet is still flying. Bombing would be done similar to the F-5 via bombing tables. Fuzing option do not make a difference in DCS afaik. In theory it is useful to let a bomb detonate after penetrating a target like a bunker.

NO DIFFERENCE. Also remember - Its LGB, get CCIP, CCRP out of your head. Its not going to be either. youre going to lase and fly as close to over the target as you can, and when you hear a tone you drop. same reason you can have CCIP or RP on the Tomcat but it doesnt matter and almost everyone sets bomb mode to "manual" (which shows nothing really) for the LGBs as all the CCIP / RP symbology is clutter for LGBS Finally if LGBs fail YOU CAN use them as dumb bombs!!
