Radar cursor

I've upgraded from the F-15C to the F/A-18C and obviously it's a huge learning curve. I've watched numerous YouTube tutorials before coming here to ask.

 

To what setting do you bind your HOTAS to be able to move the cursor and lock a target in A/A or A/G radar? I've tried both "throttle designator control" and "sensor control switch" - neither seems to control it. I've been able to fire an uncaged Maverick, but haven't been able to make the adjustment corrections (is it called "slewing"?) before the Maverick hits the target.

First the ATTK RDR page needs to have the Throttle Designator Controller (TDC) assigned to it with the Sensor Control Switch (SCS). Bumping the SCS in a direction will assign the TDC to that page (Up for HUD, Left for Left DDI, Right for Right DDI, Down for the MPCD). Whichever page the TDC is assigned to will have a diamond in the top-right corner (if assigned to the HUD there will be a dot in the middle of the velocity vector). Once the TDC has been assigned to the radar page, you'll be able to slew the designator with the TDC axis controls.
