I wish we could have an easy to use all in one software interface, which is able to extract MFD's and gauges to external monitors and also has the possibility to handle Arduino's, Pokeys and Arcaze modules as a device for connecting outputs such as LED's, OLED's, 7-Segment Displays or inputs like switches, rotaries, buttons and encoders.

I know there exist some projects which are able to do this already, but you have to use different programs to get all this done and it's really difficult. Especially if you want to use it with more than only one module. You also have to do a lot of the configuration with editing scripts, which isn't very comfortable to do. If you built a homepit, you don't want to spent hours of learning code to get some small things done. The rest of the project is already a big effort and an all in one software interface with a graphical GUI could really be a usefull thing to get your homepit working.

I'm aware of, that VR should bring the real thing to us, but a lot of people still building pits and many of them even use both approaches to get things as real as possible.

I think such a software could be sold as a standalone payware-module, which only those guys will purchase, who need it. I would be willing to spent twice or more the price a high end module costs for such a program and I think a lot of other homepit builders would do the same.

When ED released Black Shark 1 in 2009, one of their promise was to provide with it the dev kit for cockpit builders. That's what kicked me into pit building at that time. 11 years later,... well, you know.

Thank God, the community provided what was promised by ED and there are now wonderful tools to build amazing pit very easily. Kinda night and day from where I started where you had to figure out how to tweak the lua files to export displays and the export.lua file was a "terra incognita" for all of us.

Yes, you are right that the community has done a lot, but it's still very complicated to built a pit for DCS, compared to other simulations I don't want to name here.

Even in the civilian sector of flight simulation you have many really easy ways to interface your pit with the sim not to mention simple what you get is what you see solutions to extract gauges and MFD's to external displays and adjust them in size and position behind your panel-frames. Here you have to count pixels for x and y coordinates and adjust the size in the same way by editing scripts.

I think DCS is the biggest modern military flight simulator at the moment and one of only two that still exist today and really the only one you can buy, but there is still no comfortable way to built a homepit, despite all the realism it brings.

It would really be nice to see an improvement here, even if it will cost you extra money. Nothing is for free, but the possibility to make things easier for pit builders in such a realistic simulation is really needed in my opinion. VR as well is no real alternative to a fully functional homepit.
