[NEED TRACK REPLAY]Strange Steering Cue on Moving Target

Recommended Posts

I start from RAMP, allignment ok, point track on target. Gbu 12 & laser have the same code and laser armed. The steering cue is off the target and keep moving right and left everytime I follow it and cannot drop the bomb.

I use supercarrier and persian gulf.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Is the target moving? If so, is it a case of the "smart" AI driving in circles? That can cause issues.

My first thought is weather though... Higher winds can lead to an offset of the ASL compared to where the target actually is. Regardless, even if you are not perfectly lined up with the ASL, you should be able to release the store and then allow the laser to bring it to the intended target.

Is the weapon physically not able to come off the pylon, or are you saying you cannot drop the store, as you cannot get properly lined up with the ASL?

Cheers,

Ziptie

The mission needs f-18, supercarrier, and persian gulf.

Sorry, I have changed the loadouts of the mission because of this problem. You can replace the mav with gbu 12 in the mission planner before fly.

I'll give it a try when I can fly again - not sure I'll be able to do so this week, but will let you know after I have - see if I can encounter the same issue you were.

I think it's because of INS incomplete alignment. I'm pretty sure the status was OK before I switch to NAV. But after took off, i got INS warning display.

I don't understand why this happened.

Was the INS warning labeled P/INS ?

Ensure that you are choosing the IFA position rather than the NAV position, via the rotary selector. There has been procedural changes for the Hornet, in that respect.

There is also a way to speed up the alignment process, similar to the 'fast align' process for the A10C I/II. If you aren't sure, happy to share that process - it's incredibly simple, literally two additional steps, if you would like to skip the full 10 minute alignment process and shorten it to more like 2 minutes or so.

After selecting CV/GND alignment via rotary selector:

1. box STD HDG on the HSI via OSB button

2. after alignment indicates 'OK' on HSI, select IFA via rotary selector.

Done.

Yes, the steps you described give me correct steering cue on moving target. So this is not a bug.

Thanks Ziptie. You make my day... :)
