Delareon Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I thought i start a thread here before trying to report a bug which possibly is my fault and no bug at all... So i build a small Test Mission to get a bit comfortable with the Mavericks. Nothing Fancy just Caucasus, a few BMPs and my Plane packed with Mavs, including some targets for Ground Boresighting (i hate it to take off with a plane which is simply not ready). I needed a few trys but now i get the hang of boresighting and it works ok. Im locking the target with the TGP and the Maverick does the same and will hit as it should. But if the Target moves, the Mav just hit the Ground somewhere. Shouldnt it follow the Target or do i get something wrong here? Havent tried it if the target moves from the beginning. What i did was lauinching 2 Mavs. The first one hits, then the vehicles start moving and the second one misses. Oh and i use the D Variant, if this makes a difference.
ak12546 Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Is the Maverick cross fully closed around and tracking the target after it is moving? Or did you lock him and fire before any movement? Mavericks should definitely have no issues hitting moving targets so long as they are tracking correctly. Frederf Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 You're absolutely right. For some reason the handoff process doesn't maintain the LOS between the pod and the missile throughout the process. If the target is moving with any significant angular rate the missile is trying to be locked on to the dusty trail where the vehicle used to be. You can't launch the missile without track so it's locking onto something but not the target and that's why it hits not the target. Right now you have to point track command the pod somewhere where the target is going to be in a few seconds time. That way just as the missile is getting around to locking under the crosshair the vehicle drives through the crosshair. Clearly this isn't how it be.
