Alexrey Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 He's using basic diarrhea of the mouth. :music_whistling: The russian RWR has a power scale that you can use to estimate range. It's not perfect because sources vary in their power output. But with a little experience it's quite useful. The F-15 does not have a range indication per se- but the spike's positions on the display can be interpreted with a decent idea about range as well. Many even have a mod that places a circle on the RWR marking a particular distance figure. Where can I find thi mod? :O Actually, I'm using good old rules of thumb based on trig, and it works rather well ... including on targets who have their radar off. What happens if the target's radar is off?
GGTharos Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 You don't see him on the RWR ;) The whole idea is to range some guy in HoJ independently of whether their radar is emitting, or what type of aircraft it is; I don't need to guess if it's a flanker vs. a mig etc. All he has to do is keep his jammer on. That said, use whatever is appropriate for your situation; you build your picture from many sources.
