Had to stop training- how do iget back to it?

So I installed voice attack, and then vaicom pro. I went to the editor and started training keywords. All was going pretty well (except it didnt like to recognize the word 'thousand') any I kept going. After a while I needed a break. I hit 'finish', a dialog box came up telling me to do something. I dismissed it. Now I have an error in the voice attack console: 416 missing aliases

How do I fix this? In vaicom pro, in the editor tab , the command phrase box is empty.

I think you need to reset Vaicom's keyword list as follows:

1. Open Vaicom config and select the Reset tab

2. Select Keywords, make sure no other options are selected and then clock on Master Zero

Hopefully when you go back to the Editor tab the list will be back

this doesn't remove any training you have done

thank you. Is there any way to check how much training is done and which words need to be repeated also due to poor quality recognition? The buttons 'reload' and 'finish' are highlighted in yellow, btw.

when i try to say 'copy' for the keyword 'copy' then no beep is heard. Rather the word 'copying' appears in MS recognition window. Solution?

The word 'criqueville' always comes up 'cretteville' and both are in the dictionary. Please advise.

I don't believe there is a way to get a definitive list of what you have done - I just noted down where I had got to. If Finish is highlighted yellow then press the Test button - this will compare the Vaicom list to that in the Voiceattack (VA) profile. If they match a message to this effect will appear in the VA log and the Finish button will turn grey. If there is a mismatch then press Finish and follow the instructions that will appear.

In terms of words that are not recognised reliably, especially when you have added them to the dictionary and recorded you saying them, the best solution is to add an alias on the Editor tab. To do this:

1. Select the command phrase for which you want to add an alias and then press ADD NEW. This will add a new entry which is highlighted and with a number at the end, e.g. if the command phrase was Airport, ADD NEW will give you Airport1

2. Click to the left of the start of the phrase (e.g. before the A in Airport1) and then type in the new command phrase you want (it pays to have done some voice training and found some words (can be more than one in the phrase) which are well understood when you say them

3. Delete the original alias text

4. Once you have added your aliases click on the FINISH button and follow the instructions to add them to the VA profile list of commands

As an example, you may find that Criqueville works better if you change it to Cricket Ville. To do this you would select Criqueville from the list. ADD NEW would then give you Criqueville1. Click at the front of this and type in your new words to get Cricket VilleCriqueville1 and then delete Criqueville1 to be left with Cricket Ville as the alias (Criqueville would still be in the list as well).

If you do add more than a couple of aliases it is a good idea to EXPORT them to a file which you can then backup. If, in the future, you need to reset Vaicom for any reason yo can then use the small right arrow to the right of the APPLY and CANCEL buttons to toggle the EXPORT button to an IMPORT button which you can then use to bring the commands back in

If you have the AIRIO extension and use the Radio Tune, Tacan Tune etc commands you might well find that the Tune in these is misheard as 2 or to. Several of us have changed Tune to Freak to get around this - give me a shout if you need to do this and I will show you how to do it

just spent half an hour talking at my pc. I am already past the 'H's The next thing to say in the box is 'in from the East' I say it and instead of the VA console giving me a 90% or whatever, I get the 'alternates' dialog from Windows popping up and the first item on the list is 'In from the East' If I click on that, it inserts the phrase into the VA box so now the phrase is present twice. Didnt know what to do so I just deleted the duplicate phrase from the command phrase box . I tried the 'test' button and to my surprise it still says 416 aliases missing. Is all my work for wasted? Or is it training and not telling me? Before starting this with VAICOM, I should say I trained the microsoft speech recognition engine three times as recommended by the Voice Attack Installer dialog and that went smoothly.

I really appreciate your help. Are you the official VAICOM support? The VAICOM site refers customers to this forum.

No I am not official support (you are not the first person to think I am @Hollywood_315 in disguise:))- i am just a user, but with a long professional history of helping customers with support for products my teams produced. I know how good Vaicom is when up and running and will do my best to help other people get past the teething issues.

your work is definitely not being wasted, and I spent hours talking at my PC:). There isn't a formal training progress bar or anything, but running through all the phrases will help the machine understand you better, and will also help you identify words it struggles with understanding. These are the ones you need to think of aliases for - they don't even need to be close to the original word as long as you can remember what you have used

is the Finish button still showing yellow? If so, you need to press it and follow the instructions it will give you (apologies if you have already done this). If the alias mismatch carries on you might need a database and / or profile reset. Don't worry, neither of these will affect the voice training you have already done.

@skypickle: The 416 aliases missing issue is not related to the keyword training. It simply means that you haven't copied all of your keywords into the Voice Attack profile so that VA will invoke VAICOM when you say one of them. That's what the "Finish" button, and the dialog that appears when you push it, are all about. It would be nice if VAICOM could do this automatically, but apparently the VA profile needs to be updated with the keyword list manually.
