Thank you for asking our opinion! It's good that the questions - what map? what flyable aircraft? what scenario? are considered together. In the American forums, one person has been suggested - to add the F/A-18 and aircraft carriers, on the existing Black Sea map. IMHO, it isn't suitable.

A solution is to make plans for two products, to follow after "Lock On - Modern Air Combat". The first, I propose "Lock On: Ironhand," the second - "Lock On: Navy." The new features developed in LO-Ironhand are chosen so that they will be of maximum value to LO-Navy (marked with "*").

Lock On: Ironhand

1) Scenario is war between Russia and Georgia over oil and Abkhazia territory

2) New gameplay: use of antiradar missiles and electronic warfare

3) Existing map is expanded to include Georgian airbases that are not in Abkhazia, and the "Merzifon" airbase in Turkey. Kacha airbase should be added in Crimea for Be-12.

4) New flyable aircraft: F-16 (antiradar Tornado, Su-25TM?). The F-16 is a good choice at this time because it carries HARM, is used by USA, Turkey and Taiwan*, and it has only 2 television displays.

5) New (old) SAMs: SA-2 Dvina (Georgia, China*), Nike Hercules (Turkey, Taiwan*), for variety of SAM difficulty level with modern units

6) New ground units: air controller/target designator man (FAC), soldier man, T-72, T-55

7) New AI aircraft: EA-6B, Su-24MP (electronic warfare); P-3 Orion, Il-38, Be-12 (naval combat*); F-15E, MiG-21 (Georgia, China*), L-39

8) New ships: navies of Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, and Russian Black Sea Fleet, including Ukrainian Foxtrot submarine and "Slavutich" command ship: NO CARRIERS. Optional USA navy.

9) Different ECM jammers and SAMs have different tactics and effectiveness.

10) Antiradar missiles hit the radar, not the body, of ships*. In multiplayer mode, the F-16 player can disable the ship, then the A-10 player can destroy it.

11) Improved radio communication: FAC, helicopters and ships can communicate with close air support CAS mission aircraft

12) Improved third-party target illumination: destruction of FAC or radar aircraft cancels target illumination for A-10 or Su-33 with Kh-41*

13) "Intelligent" map integrated with mission generator. Map is divided into regions. Each region is friendly or enemy. Successful missions increase number of friendly regions.

13) "Intelligent" map remembers how many aircraft are at each airbase. If all runways at an airbase are destroyed, in the next mission its aircraft will be static objects that cannot fly. If an airbase has no aircraft, the runway lights are turned off at night.

14) New map object: oil pipelines. "Intelligent" map can sense undamaged oil transport routes (includes harbors and railroads) and assign them as targets for mission generator.

15) "Intelligent" map can evaluate electrical grid. When an electrical station is destroyed, local city is dark at night, and local oil transport is disabled in the next mission.

16) User interface: separate existing "Mission Editor" screen for the designer and a new, simple "Mission Planner" screen with payload selection for pilots.

Lock On: Navy

1) Scenario is war between China and Taiwan.

2) New gameplay: carriers, marine "amphibious" assaults, defense against cruise missiles

3) New map added: Taiwan. Extended north to Chinese navy port of Shanghai, east to Okinawa and part of Japan, south to part of Philippine Islands. Land area similar to land area of Lock On, with much more water area.

4) New flyable aircraft: F/A-18 (possibly AV-8 Harrier?)

5) New AI aircraft: Chinese J-series fighters, Tu-16 bomber

6) New ships: Chinese, USA, Taiwan, Russian navies with aircraft carriers and tank-carrying amphibious ships. Optional French and Indian aircraft carriers.

7) "Intelligent" map can now evaluate transport of weapons and fuel to bases. If railroad, ship or aircraft transport in previous mission is destroyed, mission generator reduces available weapons in the next mission.

8) Ships are affected by weather and waves

9) User interface lets user choose theater: Black Sea or Taiwan

10) Improved radio communication with carriers

IMHO, it is too early to make a carrier simulation. Russia is upgrading the Su-33, and there will be new controls in the cockpit. What is the future of Su-27KUB, Su-34, and F-14? Will India buy the MiG-29K and Gorshkov carrier? What new weapons will China buy? Too much is unknown, and it is too much work. The simulation can be developed more efficiently and profitably by planning from the beginning for incremental, additive improvements, with carrier simulation as a future target. Combat simulation is big and complicated with many interesting topics to explore. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

SwingKid предложил очень интересные и взвешенные варианты развития, пост уже давний, а реакции ни от кого что-то нет...

Взято на заметку? У кого ещё какие идеи? Пока спрашивают  поддержим отечественного производителя !!! :)
