Hello everyone,

 

First of all I want to give a huge thanks to the development team for gifting the DCS world with this aircraft, it is my favorite module by far and I pretty much stopped flying all the other modules including the hornet and tomcat as a result. Now a quick question for the engine data page:

 

The values of N1, N2, and T4 are all self explanatory for me but what does PT1, PM, VE, and PT stand for? PM stays at 0 until I turn the engine control on and then it jumps to a value in the 70's even with the engine still off, PT also rises from 7.0 to a higher value with engine control set to on. I am always fascinated by the technical side of flying so naturally this has piqued my interest.

PM: oil pressure (kgf/cm2)

PT: fuel filter differential pressure (kgf/cm2)

PT1: afterburner injector fuel pressure (kgf/cm2)

VE: engine vibration (mm/s)

Interesting, so does the JF-17 incorporate some sort of electrical oil pump instead of an engine driven pump if pressure rises by turning the engine control on?

Yes, there's a booster pump located at the bottom of tank 2, which is driven by a DC electric motor, and is used to provide fuel during engine starting and also normal operations.

I figured there are booster pumps for fuel but I'm trying to figure the rise on oil pressure (PM) before engine start with just engine control turned on. I'm an aircraft maintenance student who is trying to figure out if this is some unique design that I have never heard of, the only engine oil pumps I heard of are engine driven pumps which means no PM until the engine is rotating during the start sequence.

Ah you’re right, the RD-93 engine oil pump is driven by the KCA-54 accessory gearbox. So there should be no PM until engine rotating.
