Alexrey Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I was watching the Superior Fighters video made by Glowing AMRAAM and noticed that in one of the scenes the MiG-29 looked almost real. What made it like that was the shadows I think. When I put my shadows on full they don't look nearly that good and smooth. How'd he do it?
GGTharos Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Glowing AMRAAM uses post-processing. Besides, there's probably lighting/advanced haze effecs etc that may play part in this, not to mention the video card. VMFA117_Poko Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) You mean the HDR-like effect? The Glowing effect? It can be done when You put in the video editor like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier two layers of the same video but upper is strongly blurred, multiplied on the bottom layer and set transparency of it to about 50% (more or less). Sound easy but You probably will must to play with saturation, brightnest and contrast a little. That needs a magic touch. Edited June 10, 2008 by Poko24
Alexrey Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 No I mean how did he get his shadows looking so good, when I have mine on highest they don't look nearly as good has his. Mine are usually all jagged, but his are really smooth.
S77th-konkussion Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 crank up the AA in your video card properties. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Alexrey Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 crank up the AA in your video card properties. Cool thanks that did the trick. :) I could only go up to 8x with my card so I still have some jaggedness. Is there any way to go higher?
S77th-konkussion Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) Typically the max applicable value is displayed. I don't know if you can force it higher. Even if you can- I'm thinking you probably shouldn't. However you may be able to smooth out even more by increasing your resolution. I'm running @ 1680x 1050 (widescreen) and I think i'm only at about 4x or 6x AA. Edges are smooth as glass. If you change your LOMAC rez make sure you change your desktop to match. (This is a tip from the OLD days- it might not be applicable anymore, but it couldn't hurt. It used to cut down on crashes.) ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted June 11, 2008 ED Team Posted June 11, 2008 I'm guessing you're talking about the shot where we see the lone Mig-29 above the clouds looking down at the terrain. All i did here was apply some "glow", using the default lockon settings at the time, with shadows set to full. I believe it looks pretty "natural" because of the desaturated colors, and the fact that you have the clouds beneath it, and then a small town down below. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
Alexrey Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Yup that was the scene, damn amazing! :) Is the colour de-saturation something that can be done in Lock-On somehow or only with movie making tools?
