Problem with VKB device config.exe and losing buttons...help please!!!

This has been a long standing problem that I haven't cared much about until recently because I need to change some settings on my Warthog adapter and my gunfighter pro base.

 

I cannot get the VKBDevCfg.exe to run properly.  I downloaded the newest one (0.91.54). When I open the program it just freezes and says Not Responding with a spinning blue wheel.  I also have an older version (0.91.30) which slightly works....it will open and eventually detect my joystick but has long freezes that last up to 1 minute and then the program works for a couple seconds and then immediately freezes again.  Making it nearly unusable and certainly not trustworthy that I am not gonna screw up my configurations.

 

Makes it so I can't really switch from my TM warthog grip to my F-14 etc.  Can't calibrate or update firmware etc.

 

Any help greatly appreciated.

 

Got into this mess when trying to trouble shoot why I keep losing button functionality (flashing red light) when I bank or pitch hard.  I believe that  may be due to a sticky/faulty metal pin/connector in the bottom of my extension stick.  Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue?
