Schwarzfeld Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Folks - looking for some veteran assistance if anyone knows a workaround for this - for EXT_01 and EXT_02 (front end of the acft), the rivets and lines (not all, but almost all) appear to have been baked into base color textures by the developers, whereas other textures in this paint kit have lines and rivets (as you would normally see) separated into their own layers so that base color can be discreetly altered without erasing rivet/line details. This is Heatblur's paint kit v1.0, is there a newer version or am I blind/stupid/both?
prccowboy Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 (edited) The base texture with the lines/rivets is an overlay which you can apply over any color of your choice. (just put your colors in a lower layer) In some cases where I wanted something more, I ended up creating my own panel lines/rivets layer by using the data in the normal map. but maybe someone else has a better answer Edited February 5, 2021 by prccowboy
Schwarzfeld Posted February 6, 2021 Author Posted February 6, 2021 That makes sense, I hadn't thought of using the normal as an overlay, thats a really smart idea, I could apply that method elsewhere... thanks!
LanceCriminal86 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Yeah, Tomcat you paint down in the Livery folders. You can place a base color layer below those, but also note in the livery files there are TCS layers that apply the tactical scheme. Something else to look at, typically you need to drop the brightness of color samples by about 10% so they don't look washed out. Or, up in the topmost Components folder turn off the final adjustments group in each template file. Heatblur Rivet Counting Squad™ VF-11 and VF-31 1988 [WIP] VF-201 & VF-202 [WIP]
