rizo Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Hi everybody, I am just in my learning process in DCS and try to optimize my setup. I have got a TM Warthog and ordered a Monstertech chairmount today. Sidemount, not in the center in front of the chair. My question: Does a joystick extension (7-10cm) make also makes sense if the joystick is mounted on the side, or is this only something for a center mount? For F-16 and F-18 (I know, F-18 has it in the center, but this is to complicated in my office setup...) Thanks and regards! Rizo
Taintid Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 It might feel a bit awkward when you're rolling right. Extending the arm too much. *shrug*
VpR81 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Generally there is nothing wrong with an extension for a sidestick, but you should be aware that your axis deflection will increase significant compared to a stick w/o extension. You will have to mount the stick much lower to feel comfortable and you should consider to mount it with enough distance to your chair. As Taintid already mentioned, this might feel a bit arkward and it also might be uncomfortable to use. I personally only use an extension for my centerstick, while my sidestick is not extended.
