Bader242
Something on my PC is preventing the Marianas install. I click Marianas in the Module Manager, the game quits and I get these messages: The log file says: 00004.644 --- Log file: C:\Users\alanh\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta\autoupdate_templog.txt 00000.000 === Log opened UTC 2021-07-01 07:48:32 00000.013 INFO : DCS_Updater/2.11.2.89 (Windows NT 6.2.9200; Win64; en-GB) 00000.013 INFO : src-id: 21b5e65c9a14074710f7a62e66e5bb6cca2afe2f, lib-id: bf64e300edca29ae7ef5ba1d4db27e53a1213fa2 00000.013 INFO : cmdline: bin/dcs_updater.exe --run --waitpid 3196 install MARIANAISLANDS_terrain 00000.105 STATUS: Waiting for parent process to exit... 00004.641 STATUS: Initializing... 00004.643 INFO : basedir: D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta 00004.643 INFO : dcs_variant.txt: openbeta 00004.645 INFO : DCS/2.7.3.8494 (x86_64; EN; WORLD,FA-18C,F-16C,PERSIANGULF_terrain,SYRIA_terrain) 00004.645 INFO : branch: openbeta 00004.645 STATUS: Checking for updates... 00004.818 INFO : Got reply from www.digitalcombatsimulator.com 00004.896 INFO : Got reply from www.digitalcombatsimulator.com 00004.899 STATUS: Latest available version 2.7.3.8494 requires Windows 8.1 or higher. I have checked Windows Firewall and the game and DCS Updater is allowed. I've also reinstalled the DCS updater after reading the FAQ on issues/problems. I'm also running Windows 10 which is up to date. PC is new with i7 10700 and a RTX 3700. Any help would be welcome. dief47
Which Windows Version do you have? You need Windows 10 since version 2.7. Seems the Updater recognizes your windows as 8.1. Edited July 1, 2021 by dief47
alt-92
That system is detected as Windows 8 (Windows NT 6.2.9200) - Not 8.1 or newer.
ED Team Solution c0ff Posted July 1, 2021 ED Team Solution Share Posted July 1, 2021 It seems you got Win10 by upgrading Win8 or lower. In this case Windows automatically enables 'compatibility mode' for all the installed applications. Check 'Properties->Compatibilty' and unset the checkbox in the 'Compatibility mode' section for both DCS_updater.exe and DCS.exe 2 1 Dmitry S. The PC is only 6 months old from PC World (made by Wakefield based company PC Specialist) and came with ‘Windows 10’ pre-installed so not sure where the Windows 8.1 throwback is coming from. Bader242
Yes, unchecking Compatibility Mode for DCS.exe via the Properties menu resolved my issue. Thanks for your help.
