Auger Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 (edited) Been away from DCS for the last year and want to get back to flying in some of the MP servers, Used to have a great time moving mud in some of them. My question is, Steam is showing multiple open betas, one say "open public beta" and another says "open beta 2.7.0.5659 DCS version". Which one would I download? Also, is there any way to have the regular version and the open beta installed with Steam? I used to go back and forth at times, but it's a real pain reloading MP versions, not to mention wear and tear on the SSD. Edited July 6, 2021 by Auger

Which one would I download? You need the simple "open public beta", which automatically updates to every new beta version. "open beta 2.7.0.5659" is a legacy version, before a significant engine upgrade happened, that introduced new tech like volumetric clouds, which might cause issues for some people with low tech hardware and thus ED offers this version to roll back to. You can always check the current version for the open beta branch as well as the stable release branch here: https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ 18 hours ago, Auger said: Also, is there any way to have the regular version and the open beta installed with Steam? I'm not using DCS with Steam myself, but AFAIK Steam doesn't offer this functionality. If you want to have both branches installed on your computer, then I think you need to use the non-steam-installation of DCS, where this is defiitely possible. Having said that, I think most MP servers run on the open beta anyway.
