When attempting to boresight thermal MAVs in the F16 at night (day too I believe) it is impossible to see the OSB button prompts on the screen due to a bright white background (usually sky or even buildings) because the OSB text is also white. I am at work at the moment and I don't have any screenshots but I imagine someone has run into this issue or could reproduce (I will edit in screenshots when possible).

I tried adjusting all the brightness/gain/contrast controls around the MFD but it did not help make the OSB text visible. I am curious if anyone has any tips or even a mod to add an outline around the OSB text to help distinguish it from bright backgrounds.

Thanks

Gain rocker should affect the Maverick video. I've never had it hard to see the label before but I could see it. I don't know if there's any feature of the real MFDs to help readability in that situation.

Gain did affect the mav video/mfd but perhaps the osb scaled with it as it didn't help improve the font visibility
Assuming the mav thermal video shouldn't show the horizon/sky as solid white I wonder if the planned flir update by ED would help.

Gain should only affect the video and none of the labels which are added by the MMC after on a separate layer. There are elements of the missile video which are from the missile itself (e.g. crosshairs) but the "BSGT" label isn't one of them. The "sym" rocker should affect all the MMC-added text/symbols. Bright and contrast are for the display itself.

I don't know if IIR rendering changes would help. Presumably it's possible for some input into the sensor to render as the display output color even if it's rare. I'm not aware of any particular feature that ensures readability of labels regardless of video background.

Thank you for that explanation, upon further testing I noticed 2 things

The root issue was perhaps a graphical bug or server bug as I was playing on PGaW as a night time mission but the lighting must have been completely broken as the sky and terrain were nearly 100% black, which may be the cause of the extremely white sky in the thermal mav video feed. I tried playing PG at night in the mission editor and the terrain and ground were not nearly as dark and the mav video feed was much better.

The osb text/font is completely unreadable with any "white" background objects from the thermal mav feed so increasing the symbology brightness will not help since its just more white on white, unlike the A10 for example which I believe has a small border around MFD symbology.
